Eve Ensler is fucking insane

I don’t expect you to make it through this entire video. Luckily, you only need two minutes (that is how long I was able to hold out) to realise that Eve Ensler is a fucking loon. I’m not going to transcribe it but, like I said, you only need two minutes.

There are a couple of points to be made here. The first, and most important is that feminism and other petered-out activist/victimist movements, attract very damaged people. These are not healthy, well-adjusted people and they have clearly turned their angst outwards to a large degree. Their theories affect other damaged people, but they also rub off on impressionable women and men who think that because they are a college professor or a talker, that they have wisdom on the world.

Second point is; a bit effect of feminism is to turn women into weak, pathetic losers. Think back to all the shrieking and over-the-top language about feelings and un-comfortableness and privilege at the Rebecca Watson elevator affair. Some guy asks her out in an elevator and the community throws itself into a fit. How about you say “no” and leave it at that? This navel-gazing waffling loon is speaking at an event called TEDWomen. If I were invited to TEDMen then I’d feel embarrassed at myself and I would decline to appear. Aren’t they embarrassed?! Really, I don’t get it. TED is for men and women who have something interesting to say. TEDWomen is like a special-ed class for women who want to rant incoherently about things that no one else cares about. If you’re on the short bus then you’ve fucked up in life.

If you read the comments on the video page, most are against. Sense might yet prevail.

And you think this a broken woman? No, no, it is a talking vagina with bits of flesh around it.

I'm not going to pretend that I know who this woman is, but she is seriously damaged. I can appreciate that. She speaks of the kind of atrocity that nobody in any sane mind would agree with... (Eventually, after like 5 minutes of rambling about entering her own vagina...?).

But does she think that the person who would commit these acts discriminates between male and female? Females have something this man wants, I.E vagina. he takes it. Do you think this person has a moral code outside of rape? He doesn't. Males have something he wants, Money, Possessions...his wife or sister, he takes it. The males victims resists, he get beaten.

Its not a sex issue. It rarely is. That's the problems with feminism. That's why they allow men and boys to be abused. Nobody who rapes women cares about anyone, male or female.

I've been abused since infancy, by women, not men. It is literally acceptable for women to abuse boys.

No rational man condones the abuse of females.

    ...or males

Well I made it to 2:14 after she said her body was like an ipad or a car. So I win!

Very good points about attracting damaged people. I've observed this for some time now. Perhaps we need a study comparing the ratios of healthy/insane people between feminists and non-feminists.

Just to define the insanity in this case, its not the utter jibberish she is talking, its the fact that someone thinks its appropriate to put her on stage.
Whether she really believes the bullshit she says is another matter completely. That fact is someone else believed that shit was intelligent, and thinks the world should know, that's the true insanity.

Good point S.O.N. There's always be self-involved people talking crap. A decent society needs to not raise them on a pedestal.

Thanks for posting this. It was a really interesting video. My perspective on the video and feminism is very different then yours, but it's interesting to hear different opinions.

"The first, and most important is that feminism and other petered-out activist/victimist movements, attract very damaged people."

Of course it does. Feminism was a movement originally designed to help damaged people. Feminism wouldn't exist, if it wasn't for "damage" done to women, any more than any other movement, such as the men's rights movement.

The 1st 2 minutes is a woman describing the psychological effects of sexual incest as a child. It probably doesn't make sense to those that either don't know her history, or what mental damage is done as a result of incest. A person becomes completely disconnected from their body, because their body never "belonged" to them. It takes years of recovery and help to overcome this dissasociation. In other words, she sounds insane because she was severely mentally damaged as a result of incest and she is describing what that feels like.

The rest of her video is talking about rape victims(both male and female) around the world, obviously something she feels strongly about, considering her childhood.

I do agree however with the rebecca watson issue. Sure it was a bit creepy, but she could have said "thanks for the compliment, but it's a bit late for me" and left it at that. Her reaction to Dawkins, was fairly immature also.

The umbrella in particular is remembered as the symbol of the nineteenth century’s disturbing obsession with individualism. In Bellamy’s utopia, umbrellas have been replaced with retractable canopies so that everyone is protected from the rain equally.
“In the nineteenth century,” explains a character, “when it rained, the people of Boston put up three hundred thousand umbrellas over as many heads, and in the twentieth century they put up one umbrella over all the heads.”
